Cody Mapes named Head Coach of Team Sask for Brick Invitational Tournament

The Regina Junior Pats are pleased to announce Cody Mapes will be the Head Coach of Team Saskatchewan for the annual Brick Invitational Hockey Tournament (BIHT). .

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to coach an elite level of players in an elite tournament like the Brick”, said Mapes. “It is great to be part of such a high class organization like the Regina Pats.  I’m looking forward to getting the team together and start working with the group”.

Mapes has an extensive background as a coach and evaluator..  He is currently an assistant coach with the Weyburn Redwings in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.  Prior to that he spent five years coaching Bantam AA and was the Head Coach of the 2018-19 South Champions.  Mapes has also been actively involved with Saskatchewan Hockey Association as an instructor and evaluator.

The BIHT is a unique international tournament geared to players in the super novice category; nine and ten years old.  It features teams from across North America and is played at the West Edmonton Mall’s hockey rink in Edmonton, Alberta.

Alumni of the tournament include current NHL stars P.K. Subban, Steven Stamkos, Tyler Seguin and Pats alumni Jordan Eberle and Sam Steel to name a few.
